CRESKATE® in school

great CRESKATE® projects have already taken place in schools. We're not just about crafting fingerskateboards for individual enthusiasts; we're also passionate about empowering educators to integrate hands-on learning experiences into their classrooms.

That's why we're thrilled to see an increasing number of schools embracing CRESKATE® as a valuable educational tool.

One of the most exciting developments in this realm is the adoption of CRESKATE® kits in classroom settings. Teachers are finding innovative ways to incorporate DIY fingerskateboard construction into their curricula, enriching students' learning experiences and fostering creativity in unexpected ways.

A typical lesson plan might unfold as follows:

Introduction Lesson:

The journey begins with familiarizing students with the kit and its components. While optional, providing background on skateboarding history and wood shaping tools can add depth to the learning experience. A crucial aspect discussed is the significance of wood grain alignment for board stiffness.

Construction Phase (First and Second Lessons):

Students dive into the construction process, pressing the first board with prepared veneer layers. They learn to cut and shape the board while simultaneously preparing for the construction of the second board. Brainstorming graphics for both boards allows for creative expression and personalization.

Graphic Application (Third Lesson):

In this phase, students apply graphics to their completed boards, adding their unique flair to the design. The opportunity to refine their designs encourages attention to detail and artistic exploration.

Final Touches and Presentation (Fourth and Fifth Lessons):

The culmination of the project involves completing the boards with griptape, trucks, and wheels. Students proudly present their finished creations, sharing their learning journey with classmates. Optional instructional videos on basic fingerboard tricks provide inspiration for further exploration.

From our perspective, constructing fingerboards imparts valuable skills to students beyond technical know-how. They learn problem-solving, teamwork, and attention to detail, all while creating something they can take pride in. It's not just a project; it's a catalyst for building confidence and fostering a sense of accomplishment.

Moreover, this initiative has the potential to cultivate a vibrant fingerboard community within the school. Imagine fingerboard building becoming a staple in the annual curriculum or even offered as an elective subject for deeper exploration of construction processes and design options.
