Inspiring Fingerboard Workshop for Creative Kids

Fingerboarding is more than just a hobby – it’s a creative way for people to express themselves, develop style, and connect with skate culture. But the creativity doesn’t stop with riding: building your own fingerboards is just as powerful. It turns the deck into more than a toy – it becomes a piece of craftsmanship and personal art.

That spirit came alive during the SpätzelFingers event at Alte Seegras Spinnerei, where CRESKATE proudly sponsored and provided Beginner and Expert Fingerboard Kits for the workshop. Dozens of kids and teens gathered to design, glue, press, shape, and paint their very own decks – and of course, to ride them afterwards. This event was just the beginning: more Fingerboard Workshops will take place here several times a year, creating an ongoing community hub for creativity and fun.

1. Workshop Overview

The Alte Seegras Spinnerei transformed into a mini fingerboard factory: posters welcomed visitors, tables were filled with tools and materials, and excitement was in the air.

2. Getting Started with the Kits

Workshop leader Lena kicked things off by showing the kids both the Beginner Mold and the Expert Mold in detail. Together, they pressed a few decks to experience the process firsthand, while Lena also provided pre-pressed raw decks so everyone could continue shaping right away.

3. Hands-On Building

With veneers, glue, and molds at the ready, the building began. Kids and adults worked side by side to press veneers, shape raw decks, and sand them smooth.

4. Shaping and Design

After pressing and sanding, the decks were refined and sealed. A highlight was spraying clear coat on the freshly cut boards – the moment when they really started to look like professional decks.

5. Graphics and Art

The creativity didn’t stop at shaping. Kids taped off their decks and decorated them with colorful markers and paint. Each fingerboard became a personal piece of art, ready to ride.

6. Community Spirit

What made this workshop special was not just the building, but the shared experience. Adults guided the kids, teaching tricks like the ollie, while others helped mount trucks and wheels.

7. What’s Next?

This was only the first of many workshops to come at Alte Seegras Spinnerei. CRESKATE is proud to continue supporting these events, giving young creators the chance to explore their skills and ride the decks they build themselves.
